Spring into Dance | Madison McClelland

UF School of Theatre and Dance's spring showcase Spring into Dance allows dance and technology to converge. In this role, I was able to help connect the two and enhance the viewing experience of live performance.

I was responsible for creating graphics for live performance, aiding in website design, and participating in video production and editing.

Communicate with choreographers to capture vision.
Compile footage into videos accompanying music and dances.
Receive feedback from choreographers.
Attend dance practices to note parts of emphasis and capture video footage.
Edit video footage for website content.
Aid in website development and design for one of the dance pieces.
Work tech rehearsals to adjust graphics to performance space.
Prepare final cuts for show premiere.

For the website portion, I led the videography of the dance piece, capturing the process from different angles during different practices. I then edited the video with the overlay interview of the choreographer discussing the work.

As for the projection design, I helped my team create concepts for the ballet piece, which focused on the different fairies of the Sleeping Beauty ballet. We all worked on the group pieces, but I also focused on the lavender fairy piece. I was in charge of creating the backgrounds for the "Whole Lotta Love" segment of the Led Zeppelin piece, as well as assisting in the "Kashmir" portion of the same piece.
